The total assessed valuation of all the property in the county, is, $6,786,868. Carpenter township is the wealthiest corporation in the county, its assessment being, $1,001,506. ~ Rensselaer comes next, with an assessment of $932,500. Marion township is third, it being assessed at SBIB,OOO. The seeming inequality between the wages of male and female teachers is largely explained by the fact that the salaries of the superintendents and high school principals of the Rensselaer and Remington schools are figured in the average pay Of the males, snd that of couise considerably increases the male teachers’ average pay. For the same grade of work female teachers get pretty nearly as good pay as the males, which is what they should get, of course.
