DEATH OF JERE. M. RUSK.
Ex-SecreUry of Agriculture Jeremiah M. Rusk died at Viroqua, Wls., Tuesday. He had been in bad health for sometime. Jeremiah M. Rusk was born in Morgan county, Ohio, June 17, 1830. His father was a farmer of small means and could not afford to give him a liberal education?" From a farmer’s boy he -became a hotel keeper and ran a stage line. Ho was
elected sheriff prior to the war and to th* State Legislature in 1861. He entered th* army In 1862 and had peached the rank of Brigadier-General for gallantry on the field. Since the war Mr. Rusk has hold various official positions, serving one term as Governor and filing the seat of Agriculture in. Harrison’S cabinet He left a large estate.
