It is reported, “confirmed” and denied that the Brazilian rebels have proclaimed Prince Pedro, son of ex-Emperor Dom Pedro, Emperor of Brazil. A clairvoyant of the name of Marie Saint Remy has been arrested in Marseilles on the charge of being implicated in a plot to blow up the theater Des Nations. Emperor William formally opened the Reichstag at Berlin, Thursday, and made a speech of great interest to Germany and to those interested in German affairs. After prayers the members of the Reichstag assembled in the White Hall of tho old castle, where the Emperor, attended by his suite and by the high officials of state and the court officials, soon after entered. Only about 150 members of the Reichstag were present. The members of the Federal Council, headed by Von Caprivi, called for three cheers for tho Emperor. The latter bowed in reply and read his speech, which was heard in all parts of the -hall. The passage in the Emperor’s address which related to foreign affairs was loudly applauded.
