Wakarusa All “Muxed Up.”
WHITE AND JASPER BOARDS IN A DEAD-LOCK. Messrs Spencer and Dye, of the White county commissioners, came over Tuesday afternoon, on the special from Monon, and met with Messrs. Tabor and Faris, of the Jasper county Board, to resume the hearing on the Wakarusa ditch matter. The White county commissioners wanted to dismiss the whole proceeding, on the grounds that the action of the joint boards is illegal, as per opinion of Judge Elliott The Jasper county Board refused to agree to this and wanted the White county Board to appoint a new viewer to take the place of Wilson Van Meter. Neither Board would agree to what the other Board wanted, and each fixed up its own record and adjourned, refusing to sign the o ther’s record. The White county record shows that the whole matter is dismissed. The Jasper county record that the motion to dismiss is over-ruled, and that the White county Board refused to appoint a new viewer. The hearing was adjourned without day. What the next move will be is h ard to say; but it looks as if the ditch was practically dismissed.
