Duncan Clark’s Female Minstrels, the only show of the kind on earth, at the Opera House next Tuesday night. Mrs. Lecklider’s trimmer, Miss Avey, feels sure that she can please the ladies of Rensselaer and vicinity, with her work. A colored combination exhibited at the Opera House, Saturday evening. Mrs. J. N. Leatherman was very dangerously sick for several days last week, with neuralgia of the stomach, but is now very much better. Jasper county is no longer to be entirely devoid of a colored element in its population. Three or four colored men have rented farms of B. J. Gifford, in the Haddock marsh tract They come from Illinois. A laige stock of every style of cloaks, capes and jackets will be bought from the largest house in Chicago, for the opening. One day only. Miss Maud Swartz, daughter of J. W. Swartz, of Jordan Tp., died on Wednesday evening, of last week, of consumption, after a long illness. Her age was about 18 years. X Monon freight train, north bound, was wrecked at Whitesville, south of Crawfordsville, about 5 o’dock Friday evening, and eleven cars derailed. None of the trainmen were huyt, and the wreck was caused by the dropping of a drlwbar.
