INTO THE ItIYER. A yarrow <inago Train Drops Through a Bridge.. A mixed train oh the Bedford & Bloomfield branch of the L. N. A. & C. railroad met with an accident at about 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon which practically wiped it out of existence, although happily no lives were lost, -and the property damage will not be so great as might appear at first glance. The road is narrow guage and the equipmen tis rather venerable. While j the. train was passing over the river i bridge,. about one.mile from Bloomfield, one of the spans of the structure gave away and all the cars were earned down to the bed of the stream, the engine alone remaining on the track. No lives were lost, but brakeman Tibbets received injuries which may prove fatal. The L. N. & A ~ manangers have long contemplated converting the roads into a stanard guage, and the loss of rolling stock by the accident is therefore not regarded as beiDg of great consequence. Kewsof the catastrophe telegraphed to Superintendent Lowell at this place, and-he immediately dispatched assistance. General-superintendent Collins went to the scene of the wreck last night, and, end it is expected that the damage will soon be repaired. The Bedford & Blooming-ton-Fine-local ad junot to the Monxuy and the accident does not effect the main line in any way.—Lafayette Courier.
