A Strong Testimonial.
Wolcott, Ind., May 1.T.593. Cris Mertz. Presideiif Il .r_-rea , .c Dip.-octtra Institute, Lafayette, Ind, Dear Nr —It is with pleasure that I grasp the oppoitur.ity of casting into the great list of testimonials iny own testimony, that. I trust, will be evidence so strong that others alllicted as I have been may avail themselves of the opportunity held out to the most unfortunate of God's creatures. To say the Lafayette Dipsocuraln stitu teisasuccessis not enougli. In my own case I deem it one of God's own inventions for the salvation of fallen mtn. While there I was under the most careful treatment that could be dealt to a man. Such kindness is simply a demonstration of Uie-ChrisllikeJove taught us the blessed Paul. 9 U M s journey through the world looked omy those that were sick. So will’, these that are to-day looking foi thosi who, through vice, have fallen to depths of sin and misery. It furnishes a means" by which a man can be made to enjoy those blessings that God has given him. Children once more' look bright and happy; wile has no more that weary, careworn look, and ' all nature has put on a new garb. And while once I saw through a glass daikly, now all is clear. Like Andrew of old, I feel that I have not only one brother, but thousands of them that need this knowledge of my great find. Help me, 0 God, to carry the, news to those that are lost and know not the full benefit of the Dipsoc ura Inst i ute. To those in charge I owe many thanks for their kindness to me. Not one unkind word did I receive from the time I went there untill I was discharged cured from the terrible curse of rum. To those at my home who, through their encouraging words and timely assitance, came to my relief, I can only say: May God of Heaven deal as kindly with you as you have with me, and may God be w.th you until we meet in the land of pure delight. I am yours for the salvation of fallen man. P. E, Davis. CallonC. B. Steward, agent for lots in Columbia Addition; 140 lots at prices from §25 to §l3O. “A Wonderful Morphine Cure.”
Battle Ground, Ind., May Dr. " Dear Sir— -I.here wish to give you my sincere gratitude for what your ‘‘Dipsocura Biichloride of Gold” treatment lias done for me. In the year of 1373 I was taken .with rheumatism, and for two years was a constant sufferer, and during that time the doctors kept me under the influence 1 of the dreadful drug, morphine, and when they dismissed me, the battle was too much for me to overcome, and 1 kept on from bad to worse untill when I commenced the treatment last June I was taking two or three bottles of morphine per week. I kept this dreadful habit up for t wenty years, u.nd on the 29 th day of last June commenced this “won-
derful cure,’’ and on the 18th day of August took my last dose of morphine it now being nine months and a few days since I finished the treatment, and can say that I have no desire for it whatever and must say' that Dr. Hargreaves dipsocura bichloride of gold treatment, will never fail, if all subject to the use of opium or morphine will but give it a fair trial. I would be glad to help any one so afllicted, either by meeting or corresponding with themSpeaking from personal experience, I feel sure I can guarantee any one desiring to take the treatment, a permanent cure. The Dipsocura affords relief to the mind and coinfort to the soul- I found this battle hard to fight, but by the hety of Dr. Tea, of Battle Ground, who assisted in giving ! ree the hyperdermic injections, and tender care from friends. I came out. victorious and won the battle- I here want io extend - CdfigFfitulatiOns * to Dr. Hargreaves for his wonderful dipsocura. And for the dipsocura I Have a very warm regard and hope it: may forever accomplish its great ob- j ject. 1 extend my sincere regards, i

The stock holders of the DeMotte Canning Co., held a meeting last Saturday for the purpose of looking over the machinery that has arrived and paying" into the Treasurer the first installment of their stock which amounted to about §3,000. Most of it is' being paid pomptly, the building for the factory is now about complete and the machinery is being placed in it. Everything will be ready for business by the time the canning season opens. OUR TOWNIS BOOMING. A new side walk is now being laid from 3rd Avenue south along Main St. to south limits of town. E. G. Warren is having a fine residence built on his lots on Chi 1 cote St., Geo. B. Antrim and W. Lewis being the contractors. J. F. Bruner is building a business house on Main Street, between the Post Office and Meat Market. Mrs. M. E. Troxell has put a nice picket fence around her residence and now contemplates putting sidewalks along her property. Henry Granger is beautifying liis front yard by setting out evergreen and walnut trees. J. F. Bruner has a new picket fence around his residence, which greatly adds to its appearance. Luther Frame is building a new residence.
S. McGinnis is building another good residence in town. F. M. Hadley the Superintendent, and N. C. Tyler, the Sec. of the Canning Co., were out in the country one or two days last week looking after the tomato plants. They report the farmers enthusiastic over the prospect of home a market for their produce and also that the pros.pqclMor a crop is good. Our farmers have become interested in fruit as they have planted a great many peach trees, strawberry and rasberry plants. There has been four new families moved into our neighborhood within the last week from Roseland, 111. About twenty families have moved in here since Jan, Ist. Most all of them being Hollanders. We are glad to
see them come as they are industrious and .intelligent farmers and good, peaceable and law abiding citizens. By talking with different contractors we learn that there are ten residence houses ami two business buildings to be completed here- by August Ist, also the Holland Church has become a certainty. AVe are glad to learn that the strike on the 31.R.R. is settled. An advance was conceded to the strikers. Childrens’ day will be observed. It is" a solemn and beautiful service, most touching to those who lived during the war and especially so, to those who bore the heat and burden of the day during those terrible years, May it be many long years before the grave of the last soldier shall be ready for decoration. The Epworth League Convention in this place, last week was a grand success in every way. About fifty delegates and visiting members were present, all of whom spoke enthusiastically of their reception and entertainment. The next yearly convention will be held in Rensselaer. Quite a number of young, people from this place went to Rensselaer to attend Commencement but were unable to get inside of the Hall, owing to the dense crowd. From one or two who were fortunate enough to gain admittance, we learn that the exercises were unusually interesting. The Memorial sermon was preached by Rev. Arthur H. DeLong, in the M. E. church last Sunday morning, from' the words, “What mean ye by this service.” The church was filled to its utmoskcapacity and it was noticeable that a larger number of OUT veterns were present, than for several years previous. Miss Anna Draper returned last Saturday from Hartford City, where she has been teaching since n ) k. Cards are out announcing the marriage of-William E. Peck and Miss Carlotta E. A Terrible Fall.
«• A bad accident happened at St. Joseph’s College, afternoon. A number of the students at the college were playing about the new addition, and were hauling one another up on the temporary elevator that is used for hoisting brick and mortar, when the brick masons are at work. One of the boys, Thomas Glennon, of Peru, this state, had been pulled to the top of the third story, when he proved too heavy for the boys who were pulling him; and los ing their hold on the rope, the unfortunate lad fell the entire distance to the'floor of the first story. The force of the fall was partly broken by striking something at the sloor of the second story. From that point he fell head downward, and so struck the hard floor, 12 feet below. The boy was terribly injured, but for a wonder, was not instantly killed, and Dr. Hartsell, who is treating the case, thinks the chances are fair for his He remained -in a semi-comatose condition until yesterday morning, when he begin to brighten up a little and to complain of pain,—a good symptom under the circumstances. He is suffering from contusion of the brain, but if there be any fractures of the skull, they are not extensive enough to be discovered untill the great swelling subsides. The boy is 14 years old.
