Mrs. Patrick Maloney is on the sick list. Bill Honshaw is rejoicing ov r er the late addition to his family; it is a gtrhr * *’ Oliver Turner camo near losing a valuabble cow last Friday by becoming choked on some turnips; after a dozen men or more had worked the entire day with her they succeeded in dislodging it. Tom Maloney after two weeks vacation which he spent jn entertaining the measles, returned to his school Monday.
C. C. Jones and J. W. Mannan was at Ran Pierre last Saturday and assisted comrades in erecting monuments, furnished by Uncle Sam, to mark the graves of Union soldiers buried at that place. Geo. Dunn returned to DePauw last Monday, after a short visit at home. Itobl. Mannan also started to Valparaiso where lie will, attend school this summer. There are quite a number of others who will leave soon. in our village last Tuesday and succeeded in relieving some of our friends of quite a number of old pets. Monk Anderson went to Francesville on a visit again last Saturday, From the number of visits
there must he something very Attractive there. How about it Monk? Misses Laura and Jessie White,, spent Saturday and Sunday with friends at Mt. Ayr. The Van Patton and Dalincke schools will close next Tuesday; the others will not close for some time yet. The schools of Kankakee tp. have been up to the usual high standard this winter. Tommy Jones narrowly escaped drowning one day last week. He was on the river duck hunting and by some means the boat was over turned, and it was with difficulty he succeeded in getting out, weighed down as he was with his gun, a pair of hip hoots and a heavy hunting coat which contained about twenty-five loaded-shells. Tommy Bays when a fellow is in the position he was, he has to think fast, and he don’t want to think any foolishness either.
