A STRIKING COSTUME.
In pleasing contrast with the mannish effects of some of this season's styles, is the womanly tone of th« costume shown in the illustration.
ft depicts a red crepe gown, mads princess style and set off with applique ornaments of black velvet ovei tulle. The yoke is of surah of thf same shade as the stuff,pleated as indicated. The sleeves also of the surah are draped on the shoulders in the same manner as the yoke.
The Rev. 0. L. Dodson (Lewis Car roll), the bachelor tutor of Oxford, and known the world over as th< author of “Alice in Wonderland," refuses to visit the grown-up girls who read his book when they weri little. He is bashful, and he feari they may become sentimental.
