Mrs. E. L. Calkins, of South Bend, spoke in the Methodist, church on Sunday evening telling of the late convention of the W. C. T. U. in Denver, Colorado, to which she was .& . delegate. The house was full to overflowing and all listened with earnest attention to the eloquent speaker.
On Friday evening of this week the married men of the M. E. church, and congregation will give a supper in Durand Hall, which promises to be a funny affair. The gentleman are to prepare and cook the food themselves, bake the cakes a|td pies, dress and cook the chickens and -other viands, arrange the tables and wait on the guests and do all the work without any assistance from the ladies m any way. There will probably be a crowded house. Misses Ida Beal and Myrtie Tharp gave an interesting account of the S. C. E. convention at Fort Wayne, on Sunday evening in the Presbyterian church. Elder J. P. Robinson of the Christian church went to Chicago last week, for medical advice and treatment. He has been in failing health for several weeks. Lennie the handsome daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Locke, died on Friday morning last of typhoid fever; aged four yerrs and four months. Much sympathy if felt for this family in their sorrow as it is but a few weeks since their oldest son was taken from them. Rev. James Belding, of Marysville, Mo., spent last week with friends in Remington. He will be remembered as the evangelist who in connection with Rev. F. Palmer, conducted a very successful revival meeting in the Presbyterian church in this place. Miss Jessie McIntire returned last Saturday from a pleasant visit with friends in Indianapolis. Elmer Brown and Abraham Wahl, each have had daughters added to their households. The former came Thanksgiving day and the latter last Saturday.
