THINGS WORTH KNOWING.
To keep air pure in the cellar %nd pantry, keep a small box of lime in these places. To brighten oil cloths, dissolv# liatf an ouhce of beeswax in irsaucer of turpentine rub on, then dry with flannel. To take wan spots from black silk, scrape off all the wax possible, wet the goods with alcohol and dry with a soft rag. To make brooms last longer than they ordinarily do. dip them once a week in boiling suds. * This toughens the strands. • . \% *VScrub oilcloth clean, then go ovet it with cheap varnish. It will look like new. For fruit stains, dip in hot milk several times, or hold up and pour hot water through the stained fabric. To clean lamp burners,, boil with potato skins, or in strong soap suds or vinegar. Tbsn rub to remov* smoke. To keep silver bright, each eve ningpour scalding hot water over each piece, and dry with a soft linen towel. Once a week polish their with soft chamois, then place in nan ton flan nel bags.
