ODDS AND ENDS.

Charlotte M. Yonge, though seventy years old, is one of the most popular woman writers in England. She writes regularly, except on Sundays, from 9 in the morning till 1 o’clock, and again from 6 to 7. At Buchtel College, Ohio, two women and two men competed on the law essay, for which two prizes were offered. The Subject was, ‘‘Equitable Remedies; their Development and Place in Our Jurisprudence.” As usual the women won the prizes. ~ When the weather is propitious the greater part of thft forenoon Sarah Bernhardt spends out of doors in the garden in a morning wrap of silk, caught in only at the hip by a girdle, and with the lace scarf one knows so well twisted around her head. She is never so happy as when with little children, andtt number of them, chattering baby French at the tdp of their shrill voices, are always round her.
