ROBINSON-CLARK WEDDING.
At the home of the bride’s parents, on last Wednesday evening at eight o’clock, Charles Robinson and Laura M. Clark, were united in marriage, Rev. B. E. Utz officiating. About one hundred guests expressed their congratuhitions to the young couple, after which a delicious meal was served. The bride is an amiable young lady, when to know is to love and praise, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Clark. The groom is a well known son of Mr. and Mrs. George M. Robinson, an exceptionally excellent young man and well deserving of the prize he has won. On Thursday about 200 guests participated in the reception at the home of the groom’s parents. HANGING GROVE.
Some one will have to get sick, die or get married else there will not be much news from H. G-, but little else of importance happens in this town, tehip. ~ 'of last week, at least for the men. They all report a very good time. Bob Drake contemplate! building next week. Miss Lerie Wilson has engaged to teach at Fair View the coming winter.- -w ; - Trustee Gwin is adding to and otherwise improving his residence which when finished will be a neat and commodious building. Mrs. S. Parker, who has been seriously ill for sometime is reported much better. H. E. Parkison and wife start for Kansas this week, to be gone several weeks, visiting relatives. Mr. Will Jacks started Monday for Illinois, to visit parents and old friends. Several old soldiers have shown their patriotism by wishing very much to join the encampment at Washington, but' like true soldiers stay where duty called them. Some of Marlboro’s citizens will attend the state fair at Indianapolis, this week. One of Them.

James Knight is building a large two story addition to the house on R. R street, recently purchased from Samuel Mitchell.
There was a quiet wedding at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Townsend, last Wednesday evening, the contracting parties being Mr. William R. Geier and Miss Arnota Garrison. The ceremony Was performed by Rev. S. V. McKee, of the Presbyterian church. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Leopold will leave Remington this week to take up their abode in Rensselaer. Simon Leopold will move into the Shearer property, now owned by Mr. Leopold, and will enter into partnership with Mr. Mossier in a general mercantile business. They will soon occupy the very handsome store rooms in Tabor and Parker’s new building. Mr. Galbraith has sold the large farm recently purchased ot Mr. James Sheetz, for seventy-five dollars per acre.
Mrs. Mary S. Poole left early this week for Valparaiso, Ind., where she and her daughter, Miss Bertha, expect to make their home. Miss Bartha has secured a good position in a book store. ' ■ By private letter from Prof, and Mrs. J. C. Dickerson, we learn that the Normal at Mitchell, Ind., promises to become one of the promin mt educational factors of the state. We are glad to learn that our former excellent Superintendent has found profitable and congenial work, for which he is well fitted by careful study and training. Rev. A. H. DeLong is preparing to give an entertainment for the cause of missions in the Methodist church on Friday evening, September, 30th, which promises to be one of unasual interest. It is to be a Con-
grass of the nations, each nation repre mted in costume. One feature of the exercises will be the singing of that grand old hymn, ‘‘From Greenlauds icy mountains” in character, the first character representing an Esquimaux Indian, the next a Hindoo woman, and so on. Everybody is cordially invited. Mrs. Hackenburg an aged lady, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Spencer, on Saturday evening last The remains were taken to Monticello for interment On Monday evening at ten o’clock, George Locke,’Son of Mr. and Mrs Jefferson Locke, died at the home of the family on S. Ohio street, of typhoid fever. He was an excellent young man about eighteen years old. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement

The County Commissioners.
In the matter of the Wheatfield ditch it was held that insufficient notice had been given and leave was given the petitioners to amend their notice. A special session-to act on the In the Iroquois ditch case, the papers were withdrawn, by Thompson & Bro,, attorneys for the petitioners, on account of dissatisfaction with the decision of the Board regarding the appointment of ah engineer. The trustee of Keener tp., having been found to be disqualified for election inspector, on account of relationship toa county candidate, the Board appointed Wm. H. Tyler inspector in his place, John Hack, of Lowell, was given the contract for making 56 rods of road grade south of the proposed new bridge, across the Kankakee river, northwest ofJDeMotte, at $660 or 12 cents per cubic yard. The county tax levy, made at the June session, was amended; 37 cents of the original levy of 40 cents being designated as the levy fpr general county purposes, and the remaining 3 cents being set aside as a gravel road tax, to keep the county gravel roads in repair.
