Judge Hammond will Resign

: TO ENGAGE IN LAW PRACTIC IN LAFAYETTE. The people of Jasper county, and r indeed, of this entire judicial circuit, will learn with great regret that Hon. Edwin P. Hammond has cided to resign the office of Judge of I the circuit and to remove from Rens- ■ selaer. V He has formed a partnership with the leading law firm of Lafayette, and under the firm name of Stuart L , ! Bros. & Hammond will engage in ! the practice of law in that city, in the state and federal courts. The Judge open court in Fowler, next Monday , and immediately thereafter forward liis resignationto the Governor. His family will untimately remove to Lafayette, but- no-t—for several, months. Elsewhere will be found official calls for conventions to choose a candidate for Judge Hammond’S successor on the bench, ,» ' The committee appointed' by the Ladies’ Literary Society to prepare programs of work for that organization, are requested to meet with with Mrs. Eva K. The exposition authorities have now decided upon the plan of selling these coins to the people as' souvenirs, and it is expected, and no doubt with good reason, that they will sell for a dollar apiece, and that the exposition will realize 5 millions, from the 2| millions ,
