If we are able to beat the world in reducing our national indebtedness, and at the same time outrun all other nations in prosperity and growth, surely the time is coming ‘when the calamity-howlers will need some other occupation. The following table shows how enormously the assessments cf the lands of Jasper Cp. were increased by the operation of the new tax law. It will also give a good idea of how much greater proportionate share of state and county taxation must hereafter be paid by farmers The following is the table. The first column of figures gives the total assessed valuation of lands in the township in 1890; the second column the same for 1891; and the third column shows the increase caused by the new law.
