Cholera has appeared in Italy. The Queen prorogued Parliament on the 28th. An election will follow: There is much consternation in Russia on account of the rapid spread of cholera. Scarlet fever epidemic prevails in London. Already 2,380 cases have been re ported. Jlenry.M. ,Stanley Is encountering considerable hostility from the ronghelement in his London district in his contest for a seat in Parliament. r—At. a balloon ascension given at the Crystal Palace, London, On the 29th, two per-ons were killed and several injured by the collapse of the balloon. Mrs. Marion Humphreys, wife of the Vicar of Warton, England, has been senfenced to three months* imprisonment with hard labor, on the charge of brutal TreatHrentcof-a-Sgryant in her service. It was alleged that Mlrs:-Humphreys frequently stripped the servant naked and™ then lashed her victim with a whip stock until the servant’s body was covered with welts and bruises.
