; /;'V.vr, jv/.v iikms. ' The social event of the season was the large evening party given by Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hollett and their daugliter Miss Flora in honor of their guest Miss Jennie Hathaway, of'*Chicago. A great number of inyited guests were present to share in the pleashres of the evening, chief among which was progressive conversation, handsome cards with suitable topics . being furnished to eafch guest. Music and dainty refreshments algo helped, o make the evening more, enjoyable. The toilets of the ladies were fully up to the styles prevailing in our larger cities. Altogether the Remington people are fully able to keep up with the procession. Rev. and Mrs. J. L. (Ireenway, of Greencastie Wiil begin this a . week or next the erecliort ota six room cottage on the lot owned by Mrs. Greenway just east of the Hart House. It will probably be occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Peftley. *

A taH and dlgni tied looking Ra bbi from Indianapolis was here last Sunday in order to receive into the Jew - ish church by the Jewish ceremony the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Benhard Leopold. After the ceremony a grand dinner was served to about forty guests. The rite of baptism by immersion was administered to six persons last Tuesday afternoon by Rev. A. H. DeLong. Mi-. Henry Downing, for several years a resident of this place died at thejthome of his son Henry, eight miles from town, last Monday night. He was eighty-three years old. Hon. Chas. H. Price, of Middlesborough, Ky., stopped off for a short visit with parents and friends enroute to his home from the Chicago Convention.
