Texas Democrats ' . ednesday adopted a free silver platform. ' * It is rumored that Robert Lincoln may be appointed Secreta;y of State, * Jlerry Simpson may be nominated for Governor by the People’s party of Kansas. In the election in Oregon last week the Republicans'elected the State officers by majorities rangißg from l& k) t04,00G;- The .Legislature is Republican also. It is said Senator Stewart, of Nevada, and Thoms E. Watson, of Georgia, may be the nominees for President and Vice President on the People’s ticket. The Peopla’s party of the Eighth congressional district held a convention in Brazil Tuesday to select a candidate for Congress. Sullivan county placed innomination Rev. J. D. Phillips. A delegate from Vigo county objected to Mr Phillips, stating that once, in k hog trade, the reverend gentleman had worsted hhn in a way rendering him unfit to wear the congressional crown. This serious accusation aroused the indignation of the convention, and it stood by Mr, Phillips, defeating: the Vigo county nominee, S. T. Jones, by a large majority. Delegates to the national convention were selected, and S. T. Jones, of Vigo, was chosen the presidential elector for the Eighth district.
