Civil Cases Disposed Of During Tenn. : -4. ' Sherman F. Cooper, thes somewhat notorious, was brought into court last Thursday night, having been captured over in Porter Co., by Sylvester Galbraith, a deputy sheriff. He plead guilty to the charge of assault and battery upon Samuel Cooper, as mentioned last week, and is now serving out in jail a fine of $lO and costs, in all $25. The amount of his bail on the charge of larceny was
fixed at SSOO. —i■ •. _ " ■ . ‘ 7 —-JL ■ * K The motion for a new trial for Joseph Conrad vas overruled, and the prisoner sentenced to his year in the Michigan City penitentiary. Wm. N. Jones was granted a 1 divorce from his wife, Leota M. Jones. The parties “made up” last January, after quite a long separation, and while a divorce suit bronght by Mrs. Jones Jvas pending.—ln the present case, Mr- Jones brought the suit, He alleged “cruel and inhuman treatment” the manner whereof it not being necessary to particularize,and that she also often accused, him of vile and immoral conduct. The defendant filed a paper- denying every “material allegation” of the plaintiff , but she made no appearance in court, and the plaintiff was given his divorce, without restrictions as to retaining his maiden name of “Bill N.” Jones, until opportunity occurs to bestow it upon some other fair female. The parties were married in 1880,and have one son, 6 years old, whose custody is given to the mother.
The old suit of Elizabeth Melser against her absconded husband, Harmon Melser, for support, was gotten off the docket, by deeding all his property to the plaintiff. Household Sew. Mach. Co., vs. Rhoades, on account, was settled by parties and dismissed. C. St. L. L. C. Ry. Co., vs. town of Remington, to restrain town from opening street across, railroad, was dismissed at plaintiff’s cost. In Wolfe vs. Irvine, plaintiff -was given a quiet title to real-estate. Lakin vs. Kent, ditch case appealed from commissioners, parties agreed to modify ditch, and it was ordered constructed.

McLaughlin & Co. vs. Berry Bros, settled, by parties. Spitler vs. Mann, title quieted in plf.
