A Saving Pastor.
There has just died at Patterdale, in Westmoreland, a clergyman of the name of Matheson, aged 90, and who had been an incumbent of that parish for the long period of sixty years. During the early his life his benefice brought him only £l2, or about S6O, a year, but this was afterward increased to £lB, or about S9O, a year, which it never exceeded. On this he married, brought up four children and lived comfortably with his neighbors; educated a son at the university and left SB,OOO behind him. With that singular simplicity and inattention to form which characterizes a country life, he himself read the burial service over his mother; he married his father to a second wife, and afterward buried him also; he .published his own banns of marriage in his church with a woman whom he had previously christened, and he himselfsolemnized the marriage of all his children. —London Paper.
