A 100 yard foot race for the good sized purse of S4O will take place an Thursday evening, of next week, on Front street, near Hopkins’ store. The entries are Bee Hopkins, Brose Yorkey, Simon Leopold and Swaney Makeever. The championship of Jasper county also goes to the winner It has been held by Mr. Yorkey since the battle of Yorkey’s Run. In the afternoon a political game of ball, between Republicans und Democrats will take place. It is also expected that arrange ments will be made for a 150 yard foot race, between Oshkosh, of the Indian School, and Al Robinson of Medaryville, both famous runners.
