From Surrey. Farmers almost through harvesting. Crops look well but they need rain. Whooping Cough is raging in this vieinity. v Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Thornton are spending a short time with us. Glad to see them here once more. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Thornton, from Michigan, are visiting friends and relatives in this vieinity. Young People’s meeting at Vaughn Chapel every Sunday evening. Everybody invited to come. We were glad to see that Albert Hammond was able to get around m this vicinity once more. Preaching at Vaughn Chapel the fourth Sunday in each month by Rev. Fritz. Miss Dora Thornton and Miss Mary Hoyes have been visiting friends and relatives at Goodland and Lochiel; they report that crops look well. Miss Blanch Hoyes and Robert Hopkins are attending the Summer Normal at Rensselaer. The woods are full of blackberries, but there is a person to each bush. Several of our people are going to a ttend the picnic at Rensselaer the 4th of August. Mr. Ed , Thompson, of Lochiel, Benton Co., is visiting H. T. Thornton’s this week.
