From Gillam Township. The Fanners’ Alliance at West Vernon are making great preparations to attend the grand picnic at RensSCiaci, Aug., 4th. likewise do tt_ learn that Center Alliance is making preparations. The festival at Independence last week proved to be a success, as they netted about $30.“ We now hope to see" some new carpets the next time we attend church there. Mrs. A. J. Rathfon will start in a few days for Harrisburg, Pa., where she expects to make a three months visit with her parents and other relatives. There will be a Quarterly and Basket meeting at Independence Chapel, Aug., 2nd. The presiding elder will be present. Mr. Wm. Querry has purchased the drugstore of Mr. Hardesty, at Medaryville, and will move his family to town some time in September. And still there is more to follow. Miss Ella Hanley, of Kniman, Ind., is visiting relatives and friends in this vicinity. Eight persons were taken into full membership at Pleasant Ridge church last Sunday. Quite a number of the young tolks went in to take dinner with Mr. Ed Rockwell last Sunday, it being his 20th. birthday. —-— There are rumors of a wedding in Gillam soon. Who is it? Uncle Bill and Aunt Mary Robinson, who have been visiting here for the past year, started last week for their home in Hays City, Kan. They expected to stop at Lafayette and visit relatives over Sunday. A Gillamite.
