A PREDICAMENT.

Kansas Judge—•• Jury show any signs uv reachin’ a verdict ? That tfrar Buck Thorn has held out agin the rest about long enough.” Bailiff—" They’ve reached it now. yes honor, an’ they wisht you'd come la the jury room an’ hear it.” Judge—" What under the sun ! Why don’t- you bring ’em in here an’ let 'em epeak for themselves ? ” Bailiff —‘‘Wai, you see, yer honor, they'd stood for twenty four hours 'leven for conviction an* Buck for acquittal. Finally, to sorto settle it, be opened up a little game uv poker, stakin’ bis agreement agin their money. Buck won an’ it to proceeded till they hadn't nath’a’ left but their raiment. Now, Buck’s got the slothes, too, an' refuses to let his property* jo out uv the jury room.”
