For nearly a half a century these two labored together in the vineyard of the Lord, Mr. Chestnut began his ministry at Bealsville, Ohio, ended it at Philo 111., laboring in the mean time atKingsloie Ohio,. Williamsburg Ohio, Loveland Ohio, also at Grawfordsville, Rosville, and Rensselaer this state and at Sioux City; in each of these pastoral charges Mrs. Chestnut did faithfully and well the part of a minister’s wife. The church at Rensselaer was built by Rev. Mr. Chestnut, whose toil and energy are apparent not only in materal but spiritual things. He was a great organizer and did much for home mission work which meant hard labor fbr him and sacrifice for his wife. This she clieerfuliy made. She was buried Apr., 23rd, in Weston cemetery her funeral services were conducted by Rev. I. I. Corby at the Presbyterian Church. The children were all present except one son who was detained by missing rail road connection as he telegraphed his expection of reaching Rensselaer by Thursday morning.
Mother Chestnut was a noble woman, intelligent, refined and devoted to Christ. She possesed a cheerful yet modest spirit, though having been confined to her room for months and years she never murmured nor complained
She has gone. Her suffering is over. We would not disturb her slumbering ashes, nor call back her disembodied spirit. The many virtues of her life we will seek to cherish.
