Another Small Fire.
Last Thursday fire was discovered by some school children in the rear part of a small vacant house on Front street, near J. J. Eiglesbach’s place, belonging to D. S. Makeever. The fire company was called out, but in the meantime the school children and people living near had done good work in checking the fife. It started in some household goods belonging to Ed. Erwin, the former tenant, who, with his family are away from town. The furniture was considerably damaged, but perhaps SSO would cover the loss on it. The damage to the building would perhaps not exceed $35 . The fire had been “ 'about quenched in the furniture before the arrival of the fire company, but it had extended into the garret of the main part of the building and it was seemingly beyond saving, but as soon as the little chemical got in its work, the fire was oat. in short order. The origin of the fire is unknown, but the accepted theory among the fireman is that rats got at some matches among the household effects. The building was insured in the Springfield, with J. E. Spitler, and the loss has already been satisfactor - ily adjusted. The household goods were-uninsuredv ——
