On the Edge of an Explosion.
A doctor happened to be telling his family of an amusing scene hi had witnessed at a patient’s hous during the day. “Mr. Brown,’’ salt the doctor, “was not seriously ill but his wife really made matten worse and herself supremely ndicu lous by rushing in and out like a we' hen.” The doctor's son, Bob, aven bright boy of six, was present whei his father said this, and treasured hli words. A day or two afterwardi Mrs. Brown called on the doctor j family, and when Bob came into thi room he sat down on a stool ant fixed his eyes on the visitor. By ant by he asked very seriously, “Mrs Brown, do you know anything about a wet hen? - ’ Of course she replied i» the negative, and Bob’s face assumet a very puzzled expression.
