A Jail Delivery.
Last Thursday night some person throughly familiar with interior arrangements of the county jail and sheriffs residence, sneaked into the building by means of the outside cellar doors, got possession of the keys of the jail, which were hanging in the sheriff’s office, unlocked the jail and released the only prisoner, Marion Canfield, the young chap who robbed the house of J. T. Culp of Barkley tp., some months ago. Sheriff Blue and constable Will Wood have made vigorous efforts to recapture Canfield, but so far without success. After following the wrong track for two or three days, they learned that he stole a boat on the Kankakee river, and bad probably left foi Illinois by the river route. They accordingly followed on the same route and found where he had left the river and tried to sell the stolen boat, for a dollar. They next found where he had been 3t his old tricks and had robbed a house while its occupants were away attending church, taking a revolver and a good stock of provisions. This was near the town of Momence, ill., to which place he was followed, but there no further trace of him could jbe found. He is evidently gone for good.
