The Journal believed that Mr J. A. (Jantley, who. hint authority to organize the Alliance in the Tenth district, was not a lit man to do that work on an independent, impartial plan. He is a Democratic -politician and is even now seeking the Domocratic nomination as liepresentative from Cass county. His farm is a strawberry patch, and while he lives a mile or two in the country, ho spends much of j his time in town. He is an avowed free trader and has been for years engaged in writing free trade articles for the Democratic Pharos. If there-is any possible Demoera* ic advantages to be gained from the work assigned to Mr. Cantiey, lie will secure it and it was to put Kepulriicans on their guard that that articles was written. The Journal will say to McFarland that it has no word of opposition to the Alliance or to the organization of the farmers. On the other, hand, in this day of organization, it is absolutely necessary to the best interest of that element of the community that it be 01ganized on a sound business basis. What it does object to and will object to is any attempt to manipulate the organization in the interests of the Democratic party. If the prudent, sagacious men of judgement go into the organization and take their judgement with them, it will be a success. If it is manipulated for visionary schemes, and Democratic politicians, it will be a failure.
