We are frequently asked after the paper is out why- we did not make mention of thus person being sick, having moved, or that one visiting in town, or even, perphaps, some may wonder why we did not give a more extended notice of the death of a friend or relative, mid have appeared to think us partial. An exchange which seems to have had about our experience says: “Many persons feel offended because their comings and goings are not mentioned, while those of
others are, and wonder what the matter can be. The explanation is that the editor means to be impartial, but some escape mention. The likes and dislikes of the editor have nothing, whatever to do with it, and while it is not pretended that the editor is more -than human he knows that the success of his journal depends on fairness and impartiality to all. It is the best way always wlien a notice is desired to mention it to the editor, or communicate through the postoffice. No one feels worse about any seeming neglect or partial performance of duty than the editor himself:” The moral of all which is: If you know of a matter of legitimate local news, that you think ought to be in the paper. dont be too modest to mention it to the editor.
