CORRESPONDENCE.
From Wbealfield. The Kiev*. Mr. Weil has moved to Crown Pi int. Miss Ida Scott is visiting friends in Brazil and Staunton. The ‘electric storm of Sunday evening did considerable damage to the Three I. telegraph line in this place. Horace Marble, of Crown Point, was in town Tuesday. Surveyor Thrawls is in town laying out Mr. Bentley’s addition to this flourishing place. Charles Smiley placed an iron slab at his child’s grave, and during the night it changed its place to another grave-- or was changed. School closed Friday with great credit to both teachers and scholars. They will resume again Apr. 28, under the very able introduction of Miss Abbie Harrison. The Catholics have, just completed a fine barn on their land, adjoining their church. There is some talk of their putting up a school building here. There have several bought lots in the new addition. The coming season is sure to bring us great improvement. Aron.
From Remington. The wedding of John T. Ford, of Watseka, formerly a resident of this place, will be solmenized on Thursday of this week. The prospective bride is Miss Wilda Fagan, also of Watseka.
An unpleasantness of a serious nature between the families of Alexander Littlefield and and Daniel Mohn resulted in a trial before his honor, Justice Chappell, last Monday. The suit was brought by Mr. Litttlefield. The defendant was fined 81 and costs and appealed the case to the circuit court.
There is a rather abrupt turn in the E. K. track near the sand pit which threw the engine from the track and detained the east bound freight more than two hours last Thursday. Beyond the detention and the labor of getting the engine back into position, no serious damage was done. Mrs. W. F. Bunnell returned from a visit to Monticello last Saturday. She will in all probability start for her new home in Washington city, this week. A number of: young people attended -the commencement exercises of the Wolcott High School last Wednesday evening, returning during the wee small hours of the night. They report an exceedingly pleasant time. Cards are out for the wedding of Robert Lave and Miss Bessie Keeble at the home of the bride’s parents in Kankakee, 111., Wednesday, April 30. Miss Keeble is spoken of by those who know her ns one of the best young ladies in Kankakee, and M r. Love is a model young map, gnp of the best Remington, or any other town, call turn out. We predict for the young couple a life of usefulness "and About fifty young ladies and gentlemen will take part in -the Merchants’ Carnival which will be given Thursday evening May first in Durand Hall. The greater number of the characters will be represented by the pupils of the public schools,, and the proceeds will be devoted to the purchase of additional volumes for the the school library.
