A Wedding Anniversary.
Communicated. A very delightful time was had at tbe 20th wedding anniversary of Wm. H. and Elizabeth G win, ai their home, south of Rensselaer, April Bth, 1890. A pleasant surprise was prepared and participated in by their friends and neighbors, numbering about 85. While Mr. and Mrs. Gwin were beguiled from home, the friends took possession and spread the table with a feast that tickled the,: palate but portended unpleasant dreams of Hobgoblins and the whitehorse. On retnrning home Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Porter escorted them to a willow tree, where the marriage vows of twenty years ago were examined and tightened by many promises of future fidelity on the part of each. The knot was then considered safe for all future contingencies. We then marched to the table where a wedding ode was read by Mrs. Porter. In behalf of the company Rev. K. M. Simmons presented au elegant dinner set, with other articles of usefulness. Mr. Porter then presented to Mr. Gwin, in behalf of an old comrade, a crumb pan, a bologna, and a bottle of pepper sauce. Each gnest declared a pleasant time, and many good wishes remained with the bride and groom of 20 years ago in their pleasant home. How pleasant it is to see husband and wife walk the path of life together each the others caie and each the others joy. We hope that with health and prosperity, many more anniversaries may be theirs, until the summons; “come up higher.” Sleepless nights, made miserable by that terrible cough. Shiloh’s cure is the remedy lor you. Sold by Long & Eger. !
