Lowell painters demand that city contracts be let to city contractors only. Wheat-harvesting goes on every month of the year in some part of the world. At St Paul an effort is being made to have the clothing stores closed on Sunday. Brooklyn pawnbrokers are not allowed to receive anything from children under sixteen years of age. America stands first among the nations of the Globe in the manufacture of finished iron and steel products. The Tin and Sheet-iron workers’ Union has 2,180 members, and has increased wages from $1.75 to $2.50 per day. At New York eighty union men stopped work on a building because the architect was antagonistic to union ’ men.
