A BRIGANTINE CREW'S RESCUE.

The steamer Polynesian, Captain Wylie, from Liverpool, whioh arrived Tuesday at Halifax, N. S., has on board the crew of the French brigantine Mathiide, of Nantes. The Mathiide was fallen in with by the Polynesian, who saw her signals of distress, on Sunday morning. A boat was sent off m charge of chief officer Fair full, and the captain requested to be taken off, as be intended to abandon the ship. The crew were in an exhausted condition, not having had sufficient food for about ten days. They were transferred to the Polynesian and made as comfortable aa possible. When abandoned the Mathilde’s pumps were choked, the water had reached neeaand Ballast, ana size wesin • sinking state. She had been damaged running into a field of lea.
