CORRESPONDENCE.
From Remington. Rev. Williams, of McCormick Theological Institute, occupied the pulpit«?f the Presbyterian church last Sunday. Rev. Johnson of the same institution will officiate next Sabbath and if satisfactory arrangements can be made he will become their permanent pastor. The lecture of Dr. Jordan last Friday evening wrs listened to with marked attention. The lecture was interesting but rather too brief. The numerous views gave one a good idea of of the many wonderful manifestations of nature be found in our national “pleasuring ground.” Rev. G. M. Boyd, D. D. well and favorably known in the M. E. circles of north Indiana, died very suddenly at his home in Valparaiso, last Sunday. He officiated at a funeral in the forenoon, went home, was stricken with apoplexy and died in an hour after his seizure,. He was a son-in-law of the late Wm. Tharp of this place. Mrs Morehead is dangerously sick with erysipelas. Mr. E. Hollingsworth, on Sunday last received a telegram informing him of the death of his brother, George Hollingsworth, of Anderson, Ind.
M. D. L. French disposed of his personal property at public auction, last Saturday, and in company with his little daughter will soon emigrate to the wilds of our new state of Washington. He will take up his residence in or near New Tacoma. Mr. J. N. Spangler, principal of the schools, was prostrated with LaGrippe for a few days. Supt. Dickerson took charge of Mr. Spangler’s work during his illness. The homes of Chas. Bush and Mr. McCabe each have had a new inmate added since last week. There is a great deal of sickness .in the village but happily none of the cases are serious except that of Mrs. Morehead and she is getting better. Miss Ollie Hendryx, of the public schools, was taken sick Monday. Remingtonian.
From DeMotte. Mrs. C. C. Sigler is rusticating at J. A. Sigler’s for a few days. E. G. Warren is having a time with the LaGrippe 5 no school for a few days. Mrs. Hod Jones presented her husband with a pair of twins. All doing well. Bill Clemmens was seen on bur streets the other day kicking the dogs out of his way. Cause, a fine boy. W. C. Tyler goes this week to to take a position with a firm in Chicago. Will look for him back “when the robbins nest again.” Grandfather Fairchild is very poorly; has not been out of his room for three weeks. Daniel VanDusen has at last' got his pension. We are glad of that, as the old man is certainly deserving of it. He is 83 year’s old. Mrs. Frank Sigler, of Knightsville, is visiting friends here this week. Adam.
