CORRESPONDENCE.
From Uemißglon. A party of thirty-one ladies and gentlemen attended the Dunham jubilee concert at Goodland last Saturday night. A flat car and two hand-cars propelled by the strong arms of the young ‘ gentlemen of the party furnished the means of conveyance. The party report an extremely pleasant time. After the concert they sat down to a fine supper at the Nichols House. The concert was a grand affair, about one hundred persons taking part in it. Kentland was also well represented. Judge E. P. Hammond and Senator S. P. Thompson were in town last Monday. The question as to whom we shall have for our next post-mas-ter is yet unsettled.
Another death from the careless handling of fire arms .occured in our neighboring town of Wolcott, last Sunday. The vietim- in this case was a little boy, Claude, five year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lyons, of this place. Mrs. Lyons and her two youngest children were visiting in Wolcott when the accident occured. The remains were brought to Remington Monday morning. The funeral took place from the Christian church on Monday afternoon, Rev. J. T. Greenway officiating. Interment in the cemetery near town. G. B. Chappell has qualified and is now an acting Justice of the Peace in and for Carpenter ip. Rev. Condit, a youug divinity student of McCormick Theological Seminary, occupied the pulpit of the Presbyterian church last Sunday. Let The Republican readers in this vicinity bear in mind th e lecture on the Yellowstone Val ley, illustrated by a magic lantern, to be given in the M. E. church in this place on Friday evening Jan. 24 by Prof. Jordan, President of Bloomington University. The roads in this vicinity are simply impassable. The oldest inhabitant cannot remember hen they were in a worse condition.
