Sim Coy’s book on prison life will contain quite an amusing history of Robert Robinson, better known as u Crazy Bob,” the oldest convict at the northern prison. A correspondent at Indlanaftblis sends this to the Cincinnati Enquirer, and while it seems absurd to many it is about right: “Considerable attention is given to prisoners serving life sentences, of whom there are now fifty-eight in the nortnern institution. The most noted one is Robert Robinson, convicted in Wayne county, thirtyseven years ago, and transferred from the prison south to Michigan City in 1860. He is bow 70 years old, goes wherever he pleases and is known to everybody in La Porte county. He spends his time fish-, ing and hunting, knows no home but the prison and cannot be driven away. He always wears the prison garb, and is not contented with any other apparel. One time the prison doors were locked on him at nighty There being a curiosity to know if he would stay out, but he awoke the warden at a late hour v.ith the complaint that the guards wouldn’t let himiu, and the warden was compelled to go down and see that he was admitted.” — Michigan City Enterprise.

Several years ago my brother, who lives with me; had a strange sore break oat on his log -about half way between the body and the knee—which afterwards developed into a roB9 cancer. It resulted from a bruise made by the rubbing of the stirrup-leather while riding. The cancer continued to grow until it was about five inches long, and three wide. The flesh sloughed off, black, rotten and foul, and it was almost impossible to procure a servant that would wait upon him, the air in the room where be lay being so foul that it would sicken anyone who entered. Every physician of any prominence in the state was consulted, treated my brother without success. One doctor finally advised him to try Swift’s Specific fS. S. S.); ho did so, and used nothing else. He commenced to improve immediately, and after taking several bottles was completely cured, and biuce 1884 not a symptom of the disease has manifested itself. O. R. Griffith, Mayflower, Ark.
