The Teachers' Institute.

The annual County Teachers’ Institute is now in session in the Rensselaer public school building. The number in attendance enrolled up to yesterday noon, was 136. Profs. Jas. K. Beck, of the State University and Geo. W, Thompson, of the State Normal School, are the regular ininstructors, and are greatly commended for their unusual qualifications for the duties. Among those who have been or will be with the Institute for shorter periods may be mentioned Prof. J. B Radford, who lectured on M onday, and Prof. LaFollette, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, who delivered two lectures yesterday afternoon. Rumor says that the largest tinplate factory will soon be built at East Chicago, in this county. About 1000 men will be-employed. Big things are expected of East Chicago now. Lake county will, in the course of a few years, be the most populous ancLwealthy county- in the state.— Crown Point Register.
