DON’T DRUDGE.
Better counsel sms never given to wives than the following going the rounds of the press: A woman should never allow herself to become a household drudge, and when she finds she has no time to read an occasional good book, to write a letter to a friend, to read a story to the children, or to walk or talk to her husband, she may conclude that there is something wrong in her domestic economy, and the quicker she recognises and remedies the evil the better it will be for herself and family, if she is obliged lo do her own sewing, every tuck or ruffle she puts on her children’s clothes is a crime. The hours spent in making anr elaborate dress that baby will look “lovely” in, is a waste of energy. Baby will look quite as lovely in her eyes in a plain slip, and if he has only his elaborate dress to recommend him to the eyes of others, he might rather pass unnoticed. Give the matter serious thought and see if you do not daily take many many unnecessaay step, and do much that you might, without injury to anyone, leave undone. Rest your body and improve your mind, keeping your face and heart as fresh as possible, as you value the love of of your husband and children.

LAST VISIT THIS SUMMER. PROF. I*. H. CrOUXiD, THE EXPERT Optician - Specialist, of Pern, Ind., will make his last visit to RENSSELAER, from MONDAY, July 29 to SATURDAY, Aug. 3, AT DR. WASHBURN’S OFFICE.
All inequalities of the eye, whether yoisng or old, heretofore pronounced by others as im possibilities, to equalize the eye-sight and furnish glasses, will now find their success by calling without deJay on Prof. Gould, the expert optician, at Dr. Washburn’s Office. Call and examine our display of genuine Brazilian Crystal Lenses. They are the most brilliant in existence. Prof. Gould wishes to announce to the eftizens of Rensselaer and vicinity that on aeepunt of the increasing practice at Sis home office at Peru, it will be impossible for him to again visit Rensselaer. Individuals desiring spectacles which will preserve the sight and restore the injured organ from the destructive and habitual use of dangerous and ill constructed magnifying glasses [called spectacles Jsuch as are sold by jewelers and peddlers, should call and see him at ©r. Washburn’s office and have a pair of his famous Brazilian Crystal Lenses adjusted by his new scientific method. These lenses are made from genuine Brazilian crystals, or quarts, the most brilliant in existance, unsurpassed for their softness and natural beauty, strengthiDg qualities and perfect cry stall zation, and will be scientifically adjured to all diseases and declining eyesight. The adoption of optical contrivance to amend disordered vision is one of the most exalted applications of knowledge to the relief of The infirmities of men. Thousands in this state alone, and all over the United States tens of thousands, are suffering'from damaged visions, caused by the use of improperly fit and injurious glasses, and what would not the sufferer give if they could but retract their first step. If the people could but see the damage they are doing tneir eyes by using glasses such as those purchased of jewelers and peddlers, they would be amazed and terrified. The natural decay of vision, generally manifests itself at or about the 40th or 42d year, varying according to the habit and occupation of the individual. At first it is noticed while reading er sewing by artificial light, 'small object, such as print, etc., are read at a greater distance from the eyes.. It is noticed that a stronger light is needed and even the letters appear misty and apparently run together, and fatigue is felt after a short time. The eyes burn, feel hefvy, and a drowsiness often overcomes the individual and they find it impossible to keep awake. When these symptoms show the eye to have altered its primitive form, spectacles are absolutely needed. Nature is calling for aid and must have assistance. If such is longer witheld the eye is needlessly taxed and the change, which at first was slight, proceeds more rapidly until a permanent injury is produced. Ladies, your sick and nervons headaohes arejoften caused by wearing poor or unsuitable glasses. Parents and guardians having children with deficient vision, should bear in mind that procrastination is not only the thief of time but of sight. The earlier they are attended to the easier they are corrected. #@“Special Notice: When we first visited Rensselaer our object was to become acquainted and leave a few witnesses of the success of our method in correcting optical defects, and demonstrating our superior preparation for preserving vision and relieving nervous disturbances by correcting refraction with a peculiar and properly adjusted pair of spectacles. Hundreds of people who have suffered from Lacrymation, pain over the eye and through the globe, have found relief and complete restoration by useing.our peculiar and scientifically adjusted spectaoles, many of whom live in-Rensselaer and surrounding country. Persons living in Rensselaer desiring glasses fitted will oblige me by calling as early as possible. After this visit we will be pleased to receive visits from persons desiring glasses fit at our home at Peru, No. 60, South Broadway, where we have been practicing five years. Thanking all for past favors and hoping by skilful work and our reasonable charges to merit the same, I am very resentfully, L. H. GOULD.
