Democratic papers continue to howl in chorus that the tariff is the cause of trusts. The coffee trust was the first one organized and yet there is no tariff on coffee!! V The School Board should be bn the look out for good teaching talent for our public school. It is near the close of the year and about time for one or two to marry. It is the same old story. *♦* There should be a vigorous job of smelling done by the City Health officers. There are some hog and cattle pens that need cleaning, The Town Board ought to elect a health officer who has back bone enough to enforce the law -- - * * * The electric street lights are not as good as the gasoline lamps were, instead of 50 per cent, better. Tlie indications are that the company will need a strong “In-= dicator” to make good the promise. *#* If the Rochester, Rensselaer & St. Louis Railroad is built through Rensselaer our people must help do it. Ten years ago prominent citizens said the Chicago & Indiana Coal road could not miss Rensselaer, but it did about eight miles, and our people lost thousands of dollars by it. We should not depend upon “prominent citizens” but all go to work in order to get the road built through our town —it would give it a good boom. ,
