THE LATEST ABOUT THE NEW RAIL ROAD.
——- a . •., f)n Tuesday afternoon Col. J. K. Lee, president of the Rochester Rensselaer k Sl Louis R. R., Col. Benjamin, the contractor and Mr. Noland, a civil engineer, tarried in town fora time, while on a trip to inspect the route of the proposed road.
They spoke very encouragingly and indeed, enthusiastically, over the prospects for an immediate building of Hie road. They say they have the men and the money. They stated that a surveying corps would probably begin to make the final survey, yesterday. It is the intention to build at least the section of the road between Winamac and Rochester, 1 his year, and as much more as possible. Work on the part mentioned will begin in a very short time. Last Monday was the day appointed for the stockholder’s meeting at Winamac, but owing to the absence of Judge .Slick, one of the chief promoters of the company, the meeting was postponed nntil to-day. After a brief stay in town Col. Lee and his party went on towards Mo--r-occo,which, like Rensselaer, is a point on the proposed road.
