All Should Not Mary.

Consolation for old maids may be found in tho following extract from a sermon by Rev. J. P. Brushingham on “The Ethics of Marriage:” “It is folly to think, for instance, that all should marry. God’s command and human experience show that there are those who, for their own happiness and the happiness of others, should live in single blessedness. Milton and Wesley would have been better off had they recogni zed this. Newton, Locke, Hume. Gibbon, Cowper, and a host of others have recognized tbe fact and the world has had causa to rejoice for it. It is no disgrace to be an old maid. Hannah More had no time to marry. Florence Nightingale could not have done her life work in a married state. The angles cf mercy are not all in the nunneries, and many of them are spinsters.”
