Dr. Tanner, who has developed from fasting to temperance, said in a recent lecture that in certain districts of Chicago it has been found that there are three drinking women for every one drinking man. There can be no doubt that there has been within a few years an enormous increase in the quantity of alcohol, opium and morphine consumed by women.
