A Few Sage Remarks.

The man that will beg or steal so small a sum as $5 is a somewhat smaller fool than I expected to find in your father’s family. <. “The moment we begin to live we them begin to die," and the moment we are fit to die we do die, and sometimes a moment sooner. A gdoekpame when deserved gives a strength and miFa courage, quiet boldness and modest assurance which are worth all they cost. A person shows his standard of character by the standard he holds for others. Often he knows no higher standard than those among whom Hie lives. In this lone world,, where, friends at best are but few, and in old age, when of those few, almost all are dead, the sinking of one more is like the loss of a limb or an eye. It never can be restored. One of the most trying cases of selfdenying responsibility is when we must take an active part against the passions or interests of others, in order to prevent evils from falling on them which they do not see nor ever will see, or in order to secure benefits, perchance, for themselves which they will never suspect to have arisen from these efforts of ours. We are doomed for ever to rest under the imputation, in their minds, cf exercising needless severity.
