Private Dalzell's Find.
jt, ■■■' t- : ■ .• ■ ; ■ - ■ • ‘■■y-: , In an open letter, dated Pecember 26th, but just made public, Private Dftlzel has called the attention of veterans to the existence of an act of which allows to soldiers who were cap-' tured and imprisoned while in the line of duty, or their representatives, 28 cents a day while so confined. Pv the sape law soldiers on furlough were entitled to 25 cents a day and 5 cents a mile for transportation to and from the army. Widows and orphans of soldiers included in either or both of these classes are entitled to this money, which, on an average, amounts to $35 for each pensioner in America. Private Dalzell estimates that there about. 400,-000 of these claims that could be collected, which if paid would relieve the National Treasury of something like $14,000,060. Very few veterans have been aware of the existence of such a law.
