Still Trying to Kill Dowell.

The notorious G. W. Dowell, of Francesville, was shot through the chest Sunday morning, by Wood Thrasher, a barber of that town. The only man who was a dose witness of the shooting, Dr. Brown, refused to say anything about the case, until a legal examination was held, therefore particulars of the occurence are meager. The men were old time enemies, and on the present occasion are said to have exchanged some words, when Dowell snapped his revolver at Thrasher, but it failed to explode, and Thrasher then fired, his ball passing through Dowell’s chest on the right side, and either through the lung or just above it. The doctors found the ball, in his back, and removed it At last accounts Dowell’s chance for recovery is about one in two. Thrasher was arrested and taken to Winamac. A gentleman who has visited Francesville since the. shooting says that the general sentiment there is strongly in favor of Thrasher.
