ELECTRIC LIGHTS

The Town Board, at its regular monthly meeting, Monday night, contracted with the Rensselaer Power, Water and Electrjc Light Company, whereby electric lights will be furnished to the streets for a month, on trial. If the light is not then deemed satisfactory, the lamps will be removed and the town will have nothing to pay few the month’s lighting. If the lights prove satisfactory, however, they will be permanently accepted, at the rate of one dollar per month, for each light. The contract includes one large arc light, to be located at the intersection of Washington and Van Rensselaer streets.
Another important proposition was also accepted: It was that during the coming season 600 yards of crushed stone would be accepted from Messrs. T. J. Sayler, Ike Sayler and C. 8. Yales, at 75 cents per yard, delivered any place inside the corporation. The matter of a stone crushes, to be purchased by the above parties, was referred to, at length, m these columns, a few days ago. The Board conferred police powers upon the night watchman. The time for adding the 10 per cent, penalty to delinquent taxes was extended to January 20. There is now in the town treasury the sum of $2,000.
