EAST MARION.

Bruce Porter has purchased a new hay press, which is doing excellent work. He is pressing for Frank Watson at present. Mrs. Sarah Watson is spending the winter in California, with her sister, Mrs. Chas. Mayhew. Mrs. Henry Pierson, who has been sick for some time, is still quite poorly. Mrs. Paris Daugherty is again sick. Mort Crocket has fallen a victim of the measles.

The oyster supper at Mr. Malchow’s last Saturday evening was not very largely attended, owing to the inclemency of the weather. The turkey slaughter ranch, on the McDonald farm, superintended by Geo. Warner, the renowned turkey dealer of Ohio, is doing a thriving business. They employ from twenty to twenty-five hands most of the time.

A Lyceum society has been organized at the Watson school house. Society convenes on Friday evening, every two weeks. Everybody is invited. Schools are all anticipating vacations Services at the Ridge next Sunday, by Rev. Beabout.
