The Secretary of Agriculture.

Toledo Blade. The bill creating a department of agriculture, the Secretary who is at its head to be an additional Cabinet officer, is not yet a law, but it will undoubtedly become so at the approaching session of Congress, and in time for President Harrison te nam% the first Secretary of Agriculture as a member of his Cabinet The status of the bill is this: It passed the House and went to the Senate, which amended it by leaving out* the provision that the weather service should be taken from the control of the War Department and be made a bureau of the new department. The amended bill then passed the Senate, and went back to the House. A conference committee was appointed to adjust the difference, but before it could report Congress adjourned. Thia report will doubtless be made early in the coming session and the bill become a law.
