Mrs. Samuel Babb left on Monday morning last for a visit with her son in Burlington, lowa. Her daughter, Miss Alma left by the same train to take a position in the Post Office in Duluth, Minn. Rev. E- B. Woodson was called by telegram to Battle Ground last Friday, to take part in the funeral service's of Rev.” Lucus Nebeker, a former woll known and much loved pastor of the M. E. church in this place. •
Mrs. Emily Morgan of Mystic River, Conn., is the gueßt of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Clark: Mrs. Morgan is the widow .of Mr. Sanford Morgan and was for several years a resident of this place, where she still has many friends. ‘ She is on her way to Huron, Dakota, where £he will spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs. Parish Lyon. . --j. Robert Sims, a former Remingtoman but now living in Dakota, was married to Miss Julia Young of that territory, last week. Mrs. Alexander, a sister to the Hon? George Major, died at her home 'near Wessington, Dakota about two weeks ago. Mrs. Alexander was well known and highly esteemed by many of our citizens having lived here a number of years.
A. J. Leatherman has resigned his position as teacher of the Jones school, and will hereafter be found in a different field of labor. He has been a highly success fill teacher, and will doubtless be ‘equally successful in his new occupation, whatever it may be. Miss Anna Henkle will take charge of the school resigned by Mr. Leatherman. J. E. Stiller of Englewood, 111., was in town tlje first of the weak looking after his property in this place. , Charles Wilson has moved into his pleasant and commodious new new building on South Ohio street. The remains of Mrs. Witman, mother of A. H. Witman, the jeweler, were brought here for ; burial last Saturday. The ladies of the Presbyterian church gave a pleasant and highly successful social at thp residence of Mr. and Mis. Robert Parker, last Friday evening.
